Fancy fonts, Background music, pages plastered with animated gifs have gone to their rightful graves, yet one thing... one annoying, yet often overlooked design principle remains...
THE BLACK BACKGROUND!
How many businesses send you letters in black (or very dark) paper? If you can count more of them than say.. the number of cooked breakfasts you've had today, then you're doing well.
The current trend is leaning towards 'reactive colours' background colours that bring the text out
It has been tested and tested and at the end of the day, less is more, colours confuse the objective, so keep them simple and bold in your message, plain background provides room for the eye to absorb your message, knowing your target audience you should have a feel for what they would expect, when they land on your page it should produce a feeling of '' I know you and what you want '', the prospect must feel this no matter what and this can be done with simple bold print on a plain background.
